Acting is easy. Letting it be easy is hard.
Acting comes from listening, and listening happens to you, not by you. So learn to leave yourself alone (let your listening control you, not the other way round), and acting becomes easy.
This takes a sentence to explain, 15 minuts to experience, and a lifetime to practise.
You're already in the moment.
Simply notice the old habits that take you ‘out of it’, then stop doing those things. When acceptance becomes your habit, 'being in it' becomes your default.
Feel what you feel. F*ck why you feel it.
Your job is to accept whatever comes, not to judge it.

Class is about building the muscle of feeling what you feel and sharing that without judgement.
It's about vulnerability. Daring to surrender to the moment instead of trying to control it. Daring to prioritise your process over how you come across.
We work in pairs, script in hand, using a technique called side-coaching. Rather than waiting until the end of a scene to tell you what you could have done differently, your coach works with you moment to moment, helping you notice - and trust - what's actually happening.
You won't receive traditional feedback. Instead, you'll learn to notice and reflect on your own experience, developing your ability to self-direct.
Classes are fast, fun and designed to get you out of your head and back into the moment.

A note from Jim Rastall, Founder and Coach at Class
I don’t teach acting because I’m so good at it myself. I do it because I struggle with all the same things you do. From letting go of control, to doing my best work under pressure, to trusting I’m enough.
So why do I coach actors?
Because while I’ve often found acting to be hard, I know it can be easy. I think every actor deserves to experience that, and in doing so recognise their innate value, as actors and as people.
The truth is that most of us are looking for success in all the wrong places: credits, income, followers. But none of these things work. At least, not long term.
What does work is creating art that is uniquely yours. Expressing yourself as only you can.
In the moment of creation, you feel more you than at any other time. Because you are more you.
And when you make showing up fully your habit, the change - in life and work- is both lasting and profound.
I help people make that change.
And I use acting to do it.
